Can I reserve tables for my large party?
Book clubs, professional organizations, board meetings, and other small gatherings are encouraged to reach out ahead of time to make sure we have available space.
Reservations for groups of 15+ people in the taproom & beer garden must be arranged by filling out the inquiry form. Reservations are considered on a first come, first served basis, and are available every day of the week except Monday. Guests may request to book tables on the patio or inside the taproom, or book the entire taproom. In the event of inclement weather, we will make every effort to accommodate your party indoors. We ask that the party arrive within 15 minutes of the agreed-upon reservation time or the tables will be released.
Bar crawls, party buses, or similar groups of customers may be denied service at the bartender’s discretion, per Ohio law regarding liquor liability - we do not over-serve any customers at any time.
What type of tabs can I offer my guests?
Guests may request one of the following tab options: Open Bar, Limited Open Bar, Drink Ticket, Pay-As-You-Go (a la carte). The desired type of tab must be communicated to our event coordinator prior to the event. Please note that the Open Bar, Limited Open Bar, and Drink Ticket tab options are subject to a 20% automatic gratuity, included in the price of the quote. For all of these options except a la carte, the host/main contact will be expected to maintain a level of sobriety to effectively communicate with bar staff, or their tab will be closed immediately and a 30% gratuity will be added.
Tab descriptions are as follows:
Open Bar – Host is responsible for entire bar tab. A credit card is required to start the tab.
Limited Open Bar – Host is responsible for the bar tab up to a predetermined amount or for a specified period of time. A credit card is required to start the tab.
Drink Tickets – Much like Open Bar, the host gives out tickets that are redeemable for a beer on the host's tab. Tickets are purchased in a specific quantity in advance, and can then be meted at the host’s discretion. Bartenders can still refuse service to guests with tickets to avoid over-serving.
Pay As You Go – Guests are responsible for their own tabs. There is a per-head limit on this option.
**We do not have drink packages and all beer is per consumption. Bartenders reserve the right to terminate service to any guest at any time, regardless of group/tab status. **
Can I bring in outside alcohol to my event?
No, this is against the law in the state of Ohio. Guests bringing in outside alcohol will be asked to leave and denied service. If you have a special request for any kind of alcohol we do not already carry, we can make every attempt to acquire it for your event, within reason. Due to case minimums and similar requirements, there may be a significant cost incurred. All special orders require at least 14 days advance notice due to supply chain complexities.
Can I serve food during my reservation?
Yes, within reason. We offer hot pretzels that are available for events and can be included in the agreed-upon minimum. Otherwise, outside food is also permitted, as long as it comes from a commercially licensed food operator (home-cooked food increases liability concerns and is not covered, generally). We do ask if you are having servers come in from a caterer that we discuss logistics with them ahead of time.
Can I bring decorations for my taproom reservation?
Outside décor, within reason, is permitted, but must be approved by our event coordinator. Any additional time needed for set up or tear down will need to be communicated to our event coordinator and included in the scheduled reservation time. A $25/hr clean-up fee may be assessed for any remnants of decorations or extra work required by our staff.
Can I have live music or book my band to play at Bookhouse?
Sure, but be aware that we do not have a PA/sound system other than a few speakers for playing streaming music.
How far in advance do I need to book my taproom reservation?
Taproom reservations are booked on a first come, first served basis. The earlier you inquire and are able to begin planning, the better, as demand and availability can fluctuate, especially during the summer and around holidays.
